Cypress Village Elementary Device Expectations

Device Policy

“All Day, Devices Away”

At Cypress Village Elementary, our priority is creating a safe, focused, and distraction-free learning environment where students can fully engage in learning and social interaction throughout the school day.

To support this goal, cell phones and smart watches may not be worn or used during the school day, including before school, during instructional time, recess, lunch, and dismissal.

Device Storage Expectations

Primary Grades (PK–3):

  • Phones and smart watches should remain at home or stored in backpacks during the school day
  • Primary classrooms will not have designated classroom storage areas for devices
  • Devices may not be kept in student desks

Upper Grades (4–6):

  • Phones and smart watches may be stored in backpacks or placed in a teacher-designated classroom area
  • Devices may not be kept in student desks

All devices should remain turned off or silenced during the school day.

Students who use devices during the school day may have them temporarily confiscated and returned according to school procedures. Repeated misuse may require parent pick up from the front office.

We understand that there may occasionally be emergencies or changes in after school plans. In those situations, families should contact the front office and we will assist in getting messages to students as needed.

If a lunch needs to be dropped off, arrangements should be made with students before the start of the school day. Due to the high volume of requests and the importance of minimizing classroom interruptions, the office is unable to relay lunch drop off notifications to classrooms during instructional time.

We appreciate your partnership and support as we work together to maintain a positive and focused learning environment for all students.
