Mask Update
Our school and district are working very hard to provide a safe environment for our students and keep our in-person instruction open. The pandemic situation has caused us to pivot and adjust as we gain new information as it relates to our operation during this COVID crisis. The CDC is now recommending that people not wear masks that have valves. Here is the link. Essentially, the reason for them recommending that people not wear masks with valves is because the valves or vents allow virus particles to escape. As a result, IUSD’s Health Services is now recommending that masks with vents not be worn by students and staff. It is anticipated that IUSD will be adjusting their mask wearing guidelines accordingly. At this time, we are asking for parent’s cooperation in providing their child with a mask to wear at school that does not have a vent or valeve. Thank you for your support in this matter. It goes a long way in helping reduce the anxiety and stress that some staff, students, and parents may feel associated with this pandemic.

A Note from the School Nurse
We would like to take this time to remind and update everyone on health and safety measures that are in place to keep students and staff safe:

Daily Home Screening  - Please ensure that you go through this Daily Symptom Screener with your child before leaving for school every day. It is essential that a parent calls the attendance line at 949-936-8901 to notify the school that the student is staying home due to illness or has been in contact with a Covid positive person.

Illness on Campus - If a student becomes ill on campus, it will be necessary to send the student home immediately. This year we are taking extra measures to slow the spread of any possible illness by asking that parents pick up students promptly after notification that your student is ill.

Illness Prevention - We have implemented many measures to ensure that students and staff have the resources they need to stay healthy.

We know there is a lot of new information this year and our most important priority is keeping our students safe. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We hope that you partner with us in our efforts for a safe and healthy Cypress Village!

ICCP Scholarship - Funding Available!
Do you need assistance with child care payments for your elementary school-age child? The Irvine Child Care Project (ICCP) provides scholarships to income-eligible families to help pay for your child to attend an ICCP child care program.  An ICCP child care program is located on each Irvine Unified School District elementary campus.

Awards to eligible applicants cover a percentage of monthly tuition fees based on demonstrated financial need.  Scholarship payments are made directly to the ICCP child care provider.
