The Cypress Village Forecast
Welcome to The Cypress Village Forecast! Our weekly Forecast will be sent every Friday in order to communicate the next week’s events, as well as important information. Be sure to read our weekly communication in order to stay up-to-date on school news.

Virtual Classroom Visits
Mrs. Lambert and Mr. Forster will be virtually visiting classrooms over the first few weeks of school. We will visit every class in all three models. We are so excited to see everyone!

Office Open on Monday
Our office will be open Monday, 8/17/2020 through Wednesday 8/19/2020 from 8:00am - 2:00pm. On Thursday, 8/20/2020 and Friday, 8/21/2020 it will be open from 7:30am - 3:30 pm. Please practice 6-ft social distancing guidelines and wear a mask while on campus.

Class assignments
Class Assignments will be available on-line on my.iusd.org through the parent portal beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19th. If you need assistance accessing the parent portal, please contact our school office or helpdesk@iusd.org. Students who are currently registered have been assigned to a classroom in the academic model you chose for them.  As you know, the number of students assigned to a classroom is limited.  Students were assigned to classes with great care based on a number of criteria; balance between boys and girls, equal number of students in each class, academic balance, individual student needs, and enrollment in specialized school programs.  Please understand that priority is given to those criteria that protect the integrity of the classroom and ensure the best learning environment for all students.

Logging On The First Day
Communication will be sent on Wednesday with information on how to log on for the first day of school.

Help Center
Our Help Center has grown to include over 600 tutorials for staff, students, and parents. Tutorials include quick detailed documentation for IUSD systems (Canvas, G-Suite, SchoolMessenger, Aeries Gradebook, etc). In addition, we have tutorials designed to help parents navigate the many online educational software programs in use by IUSD. Please take some time to check out the Help Center at http://support.iusd.org. If you cannot find a resource that meets your needs, please email helpdesk@iusd.org with your suggestions.

For any technology issue, please contact our Help Desk. We’ll make sure that your request is routed to the best IT team member to support you. helpdesk@iusd.org

Data Confirmation
If you have not already done so, please complete and update information online through our data confirmation process. Please click here for instructions explaining how to complete the yearly student data confirmation process through the parent portal. It is imperative that this process be completed before school begins. As part of the data confirmation process, you will be asked to read our Parent Handbook. The handbook covers a variety of pertinent guidelines and policies associated with our school and the district. Please read it carefully and review the information with your child. This information is also available on our school website. Please either print and deliver or email the Residency Verification and Health Forms to our office at CYEnroll@iusd.org.

Daily Grab & Go Meals
Beginning August 20, IUSD’s Nutrition Services will serve daily grab-and-go meals at all school sites.  Meals will be available for purchase or as part of the free and reduced-price meal program for students who qualify. Parents are encouraged to apply online or log on to the Aeries Parent Portal. Click on the orange Titan icon to be taken to Titan School Solutions to create an account, add their students to their account, and complete an online application.  Online applications are available in eight different languages.  This is the fastest and safest way to complete an application.

Spirit Day on Wednesday, August 26th
Our first spirit day of the 2020-2021 school year is Mix & Match Day! We cannot wait to see your creativity with mixing up those patterns, colors, and styles. Wear your plaids with stripes and your leopard with polka dots. Have a blast with this! As a reminder, we celebrate spirit days in all our academic models.

PBIS At Home
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. PBIS is used across the US and internationally as a framework to help schools organize how they want their school community to be. We can apply something similar at home. PBIS provides structure and routines. At Cypress Village Elementary, your child(ren) is already familiar with the PBIS framework. Using what they already know from school can help us develop routines for learning from home. We start by identifying 5 positively stated expectations. These expectations help us set boundaries and routines, and can apply to everything from doing schoolwork, to being online, at the dinner table, or even getting ready for bed! As parents or guardians, you are in a unique position - suddenly you are teachers, who might also be working from home, trying to manage chaos during an incredibly stressful situation. We hope this guide will offer some tips to help calm that chaos and keep everyone happy and safe. Kudos to you, parents and guardians, and all you are managing to do!
